I spoke briefly with the principals this morning and got the details of the arraignment of Bob Minton.
He was heard at 10:30 A.M. EDT this morning in Room 404 of the Boston Municipal Court. The D.A. argued for a TRO (a "stay away" order in MA parlance) to keep Bob 100 yards away from any cult property or Ofman.
After a short but vigorous rebuttal by Bob's attorney, Steve Jonas, the Judge agreed to limit the temporary "stay away" order to 100 yds. and Ofman *only.* Bob will be able to continue to picket the criminal cult at will. (We anticipate a lot of airplane time in the future for Ofman as he plays Jack-in-the-Box in the style of Barton with Henson.)
The Judge stressed that this TRO in no way reflected her view of any facts of this case, but was customary in any assault and battery charge. (The current charge is somewhere on the misdemeanor side of simple assault and assault with a deadly weapon.)
The Judge released Bob on his own recognizance. No bail at all.
A picture has been posted to alt.binaries.misc and alt.binaries.scientology showing Bob being physically attacked. Bob also says that he has definitive videotape evidence that he was battered just before he defended himself with his flimsy sign.
One of the cult videotapes has already been confiscated by the police.
Should the criminal cult be so foolish to pursue additional legal actions against Minton, I have no doubt that he will trounce and humiliate them in court.
Overall, I think this incident will go far toward showing the criminal cult is a violent collection of thugs and criminals rather than showing Bob Minton as anyone other than one who wants to peacefully protest the criminality of the cult, but is willing to stand up when someone tries to unlawfully and violently deprive him of his constitutional rights.
Bob is upbeat and looking forward to a *lot* more picketing soon. Perhaps a new sign will feature the snarling face of Ofman as portrayed in another photo posted to a.b.s. and a.b.m.
